Behaviour Support Practitioner

A behaviour support practitioner is a specialist who looks at behaviours of concern and develops a behaviour support plan with the person, their family and supporters.

What a behaviour support practitioner does

Depending on your plan and goals, a practitioner can:

  • meet with you, your family and supporters to understand your goals
  • assess what may be contributing to behaviours of concern
  • write a behaviour support plan using positive behaviour support approaches
  • guide the people supporting you to put the plan into practice
  • review the plan and update it as things change

Working together

The plan is built with you, not for you. It works hand in hand with positive behaviour support and can sit alongside therapeutic supports such as psychology and occupational therapy.

Safe, respectful practice

Our practice is guided by NDIS requirements and the NDIS Practice Standards, with a focus on dignity, rights and reducing the use of restrictive practices.
