NDIS Funding

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding for eligible participants to access disability supports and services. How your NDIS plan is managed affects who you can engage and how your funding is administered — choose from NDIA-managed, plan-managed, or self-managed, or a combination of all three.

Three ways to manage your plan

• NDIA-managed – the NDIA pays your providers directly, and you use registered providers.
• Plan-managed – an independent plan manager pays your providers and keeps your financial records.
• Self-managed – you pay your providers yourself, with the most choice and flexibility.

You can also mix them, for example by self-managing one support category and leaving another with the NDIA. The NDIS guide to your management options explains each option in detail.

You can change how your plan is managed

The NDIS says you can ask to change how you manage your funding at any time, so if your circumstances change, speak to your planner or support coordinator.

Which management type is best for me?

It depends on how much choice you want and how much of the paperwork you would like to handle yourself. Your support coordinator or planner can help you decide, and we are happy to explain what each option means when you work with us.

Can I use STA whichever way my plan is managed?

Yes. Plan-managed and self-managed participants can use registered or unregistered providers, and NDIA-managed participants can use us because we are a registered provider.
